Father's Day

This post may be a little more than a week old, but hey, would you expect anything less from me!!! In all honesty, this has been the one post that has given me the most trouble. SO much has happened in the last two weeks with the babies, that it’s almost made my head spin. It is so amazing how much development goes on between 9 months and a year! There will be more on that on a later post this week. I think one of the reasons this has been such a hard post for me to put together is that it is so hard to put into words what this day actually means to me.
As I sit out here on our new deck (pictures to come later), enjoying one of my father’s day presents, a good cigar from my new stocked humidor, after a hellish night of trying to get the babies fed and off to bed by myself, I am trying to figure out what father’s day actually is all about. When I was a kid, it meant going out and getting some cheesy gift for my dad, like a tie (which he never wore because he was in the Navy), or the quintessential bottle of Old Spice and giving it to him with a dorky little card that I picked out all by myself and letting him enjoy the day doing whatever he wanted to do. That is kind of what I thought it would be like for my first father’s day. My plans were to sleep in late, grill out, drink beer, watch the US Open and hang out with my dad. Well, that didn’t exactly happen. First off, I was sick as a dog ALL weekend long! I felt like crap all day. It was awful. I think the whole weekend I ate one grill cheese, one bowl of soup, and three Chick-Fil-A nuggets. I did drink an entire bottle of Gatorade in one day though!
While I was laying on the couch miserable watching the Open on Sunday, I really started to realize exactly what father’s day means to me. Bear with me on this one, as most of you know, I am not much of a writer, but I am going to try and put into words what it does mean to me…
On August 28th of last year, my life changed so much in the three minutes it took for my three wonderful children to be born. No offense to my wife, but that was the single greatest moment of my entire life. I truly believe that all the events in my life, good and bad, led up to that moment. As my mother once told me, not sure where she got it from, but, I went into that operating room a boy, and came out a man. I had no idea up to that moment that it was possible to ever love anything more than life itself. And I could say that times three! Those three little people are the single reason that I try to be a better person every day. They are complete motivation to become a better person, man, husband and father. There is absolutely nothing that I would not do for those three little angels. It is absolutely amazing how It is so much fun to watch them grow and learn new things right before my eyes. It is absolutely amazing my fast they learn new things and discover the world around them, those are the joys of my life.
As you can tell, I am pretty proud of the new roll that I have been given in my life. I just hope that I can live up to all the expectations that I have given myself. I want to be the best father to them that I can be, and will do everything in my power to become that person. I know that I am not perfect. I have my faults and shortcomings, and have made many mistakes in my past, but I know that none of that matters. All that matters now are those three perfect little babies that I adore so much.

Thanks for reading my ramble. It comes from the heart. Now onto what you came for, the pictures. I leave you with a great quote from a greater man…

Silly Addi

Our little Addi is quite the huckster. Here lately she has developed a funny little habit. We are not quite sure who taught her this, but it is so funny to watch her do it and wanted to share it. She loves to do it while she is eating and sometimes as you could guess, it gets a little messy! On another note, Addi is now known as the sneaky tooth! Somehow over the last week or so, she got her third tooth! This time one on top! She is bound and determined to do everything first among the Trioux.

9 Months (A little past due)

Time for some new updates for the blog. As usual, things have been so busy around here that the blog has been put on the back burner. I am going to try and do a few updates over the next few days to get it caught up. I can tell you one thing, anyone who is reading this, has triplets and is able to keep up with their blog on a weekly basis, is MY HERO!!! Not sure how you can do it.
Oh well, here goes. Just a quick and short one tonight because all my meds are about to kick in and I will probably pass out. I hit the trifecta today, double ear infection, sinus infection and bronchitis! Crystal has an ear infection and caught pink eye from the Trioux, so we are all trying to get on the mend.

Since our last visit, we have gone a little crazy in the tooth department. Last time, Addi was the only one with a single tooth. About a week later, she proceeded to outdo her siblings again and bust through another tooth before the others. Kate did not take that too well and without us even knowing she broke through a tooth. The only way we knew it was she smiled real big that weekend while eating and there it was!!! CRAZY! Little mister didn’t get his first tooth until this last weekend, almost a month after Addi led the way. Of course he took it worse than the girls. The night before it broke through was a VERY long night! He was not a happy camper and let EVERYONE know it! Kate and Addi’s teeth are coming through so much that you can see them clearly every time they smile. It is the sweetest thing. I have been trying to get a picture of it, but they are sneaky little chicas!

Another huge milestone is that we have three movers and shakers! Of course Addi led the way and was the first to army crawl followed closely by Jack. The two of them would just pull themselves all around the play room. It was one of the best things to watch. Here is a short video of Addi and Jack racing to a toy. Who do you think won that battle?!?!? LOL! Kate was actually the last to start crawling, mainly because she wanted to learn the proper way to crawl, on her hands and knees! Once she figured it out, she was EVERYWHERE! Then Addi learned how to crawl on her hands and knees and is pulling up on everything, including her brother and sister when they are sitting up, and crawling on top of them! It is so funny to watch. I will try to get some video of that later.

Now on to the pictures. Kind of a potpourri of things, but its been a while. They are growing so fast and we are having SO much fun. They are the single greatest thing to ever happen to us! We so undeservedly blessed. I leave you with what came to mind at 6:30 on Sunday morning:

"Rise up this morning; Smile with the rising sun; Three little birds, sit on my doorstep; Singing sweet songs; a melody that's pure and true."

Happy Babies

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Since our last visit, there have been a lot of changes going on in the Boudreaux household! Especially with the Trioux! It has been such a fun last few weeks. The babies are really starting to get adjusted to being in daycare and we are getting back into another routine. It has been a pretty good last few weeks. This will be a quick entry to highlight the last few weeks followed by what you guys really come here for, the pictures!

Bottles:
In the last few weeks, they have been changing so much! I have had a lot of parents tell me that you see the most changes in your babies from about 7 months until about 1 year. I never could have imagined just how much they do change! They turned 8 months on the 28th of April and since then it has been crazy!!! About a week and a half ago Crystal and I were talking and wondering if anyone would ever start holding their bottle. Nobody showed any interest in trying to even attempt to hold their bottles. Well they fooled both of us! I was picking them up from daycare last week and their teacher and I were talking about how they were doing. She told me that Addi has been holding her bottle and feeding herself for about a week and the other two were not far behind! I was FLOORED when I heard this. All this time, they have been playing us like a fiddle! Well that night when I got home we put it to the test and sure enough Addi took her almost her whole bottle on her own!!! Just like a big girl. The other two still need some work though.

Cars:
When we got the Trioux their wheels a few months back, Kate took no time at all to learn how to move in them. Within about two weeks, she was off and running over the entire house. She can now get through the tightest little spots and has learned that if she gets to the coffee table at the right angle she can reach anything on top of it! The other two would just sit there in the same spot and not move at all. If anything, they would move a backwards a little. Jack started jumping up and down in his about two weeks ago and acted like he wanted to move, but just couldn’t put it all together on how to do it. Last week my dad was over and he started calling him to move towards him. After about 20 minutes he started to get the hang of it. Now he pretty much roams around like Kate. Addi on the other hand still has no interest in moving!

Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da:
Up until now the only sounds the babies have been making are your typical babbling, crying, laughing, screaming, and did I mention crying noises. When my mom came in town for Mothers Day, she started talking to Kate a lot and all of a sudden Kate started saying da da da da da all the time, and I mean ALL the time! It is so funny to hear her say it. Last night I swear that I heard her trying to say ba ba ba! I am sure the other two won’t be far behind!

Toofeses:
We have been battle teething for what seems like FOREVER!!! It seems like every time they get fussy, run a fever or anything like that it’s always: “their gums are hurting or they are just teething.” Over the last few weeks Addi has been running some pretty high fevers. Sometimes it would get as high as 102.5! She did not have any other symptoms so we just would give her Tylenol or Motrin and she would get a little better. Well, about the time that she finally showed us her bottle holding skill we noticed something else with her. Last Thursday she was sitting in Crystal’s lap playing and laughing. Crystal noticed a hole in her gums and that a tooth was finally trying to come in. Low and behold Friday night her little tooth finally broke the surface. She is very protective of it and won’t even let us see it. Whenever you try to pull her lip down she either sticks her tongue out over it or throws her head back so you realty can’t get a good look at it, but it is sharp as HELL!!

That is about all the changes for now. Who would have believed that Addi, our smallest and neediest would be the one with all the major firsts! Now on to the pictures!!!

Mother's Day

I know this entry is a little late, but better late than never!

This year, Mother’s Day was a little bitter sweet. First a little about the bitter. As some of you remember, I lost my Aunt Martha about 6 months ago to cancer. I can’t even imagine the pain that my two cousins Jenny and Amber were feeling on Sunday. I thought about them both all day long and hoped that they were doing ok. I feel guilty that I didn’t call them or send them a Facebook message. Not sure why I didn’t. Maybe I just didn’t know what to say or how to say it I guess. I just hope they know how much I love them and wish I could help with the pain. I was very fortunate to spend Mothers Day with the two most important women in my life, my mom and Crystal, and I don’t ever want to take that for granted. I am very lucky to have the two of them. We also had something weighing over us over the weekend. About a month ago, my mom had a very severe ulcer and when they did a biopsy, the doctor suspected that it might be lymphoma. Her retest was this past Monday after Mother’s Day. Luckily everything seems to be ok.

On to the sweet side! This was Crystal’s first Mother’s Day and hopefully she enjoyed it. I cooked them a good filet mignon dinner on the grill the night before and then breakfast the next morning. We spend the day playing with the kids and just enjoying the day. I am so happy and proud to have Crystal as the mother of our Trioux. She is such an amazing woman and could not imagine my life without her. Thank you dearie, I love you!

Crazy Last Month

Bad blogger! Bad Blogger! Bad Blogger!!!

Ok, now that I got that out of my system. It has been way to long for this, but things around the Boudreaux household have been completely NUTS!!!! I am a little short on time so I will just go thru a quick rundown and then have pictures for your enjoyment. Lets face it, most of you come here for the pictures anyway.

Since our last entry, we got another new stroller!!! I know, I am a stroller-holic, but at least I can admit it. We ended up getting a Baby Jogger Summit Mountain Buggy. This thing is amazing. We love it and the kids love it too! Very easy to maneuver and get around in. It is very wide, but most newer stores can accommodate it pretty well. We have taken it to SAM’s, Target, and Publix. At Publix, you can even fit another cart down the isle when we are in it. We took them to the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival in it the first weekend we had it. It was sooo much fun! We were the talk of the festival.

Of course we had Easter also. My mom was able to come down and spend a long weekend with us. It was so much fun. We were able to take some good pictures and have a good time.

And now for the biggest development in the last month, we lost our nanny and started taking the Trioux to daycare! We had kinda planned on taking them to daycare sometime late in the summer, but not really this early. She came to me one day and said that she had a job offer that she couldn’t refuse. I did not blame her at all. She has done so much for us and become a part of this family so all I could do was hope for the best for her. To make a long story short, in a matter of two weeks, we went from being spoiled with a nanny, to having three infants in daycare! WOW! And no, it didn’t take long for them to get sick. Lets see, it took all of three days!!! Then mommy and daddy got sick with the GI bug! Not fun at all. Friday afternoon Crystal and I were laying in bed in complete and utter pain and had to call my mom in for the weekend to help. She was able to come and we barley made it thru the weekend. Kate stayed out for over a week. She would get better and then go backwards. Hopefully we can make it longer than a week coming up. We will see and I will keep ya’ll posted.

That about sums most of it up for now. Take care and until next time…
